This full day course covers the basic skills and knowledge needed to extract and serve espresso coffee using commercial equipment. With one coffee machine and grinder per student, this small and hands-on course is perfect for beginners who want to enter the hospitality industry, or baristas who wish to improve on their existing skills.
Espresso Coffee Making course includes:
- A brief history of coffee
- Selecting and grinding coffee
- Extracting espresso
- Texturing milk
- Preparing and organising the work area
- Service and presentation
- Cleaning and maintaining espresso machines
Students will also receive a copy of the training manual ‘Barista Techniques’ by John Doyle to take home with them.
This course incorporates the nationally accredited unit of competency ‘Prepare and serve espresso coffee’ (SITHFAB012B) by the Australian National Training Authority. Upon successful completion of the course you will be issued with a Certificate of Attendance. To gain a Certificate of Attainment in the preparation and service of espresso coffee you will be required to undertake 30 hours of industry experience, followed by a formal assessment at the SA Coffee Academy (cost $110). Formal assessment is a 1 hour session, subject to demand.
